Abby

Abby is in 6th grade and is an avid reader who was accepted into the gifted-and-talented program at her school. In 2015, her father passed away, and her mother was in jail and unable to care for her. Her aunt Joan, who was always very close to Abby, started taking care of her. She pushed for Abby’s inclusion into the high-level school program and made sure that she felt safe. Her Aunt Joan found the Law Center because she didn’t only want to be Abby’s foster parent – Abby wanted someone to call “mom.” Abby was adopted on National Adoption Day in October of 2016 and is excelling in school – and loves her “second mom.”
