Elijah, 6, never lived with his biological parents. When he was born, he was placed with his older sister temporarily. His biological parents were in and out of his life, often showing up high to his sister’s home. When Elijah was one, his father wanted Elijah to live with him instead, but his sister knew it wasn’t safe. The Law Center helped his sister adopt him after a judge decided that his biological parents couldn’t care for him. Now, Elijah enjoys occasional supervised visits with his biological dad, and his sister is now “mama.”
