Michaela grew up with parents who couldn’t always take care of her due to their drug abuse. At times, she lived with her grandmother. When Michaela was 8, her grandmother came to the Law Center for help. Over 17 months, the Law Center’s attorneys and social workers helped the family to access community services and helped make sure that she had the educational support she needed. In May of 2017, Michaela’s grandmother adopted her. Now 10, Michaela is in a safe home and is excelling in school.
